Outer Shell
Shell Design
The outer shell was designed as a single continuous piece. This decision allowed impact forces to be distributed more effectively while reducing the probability of structural fractures.
The primary advantages of this design include:
- Increased structural rigidity
- Improved mechanical stress distribution
- Reduced impact damage
Design Limitations
Despite its advantages, the design also introduced several limitations.
Since the shell consists of a single piece, accessing lower-level internal components such as the battery and phototransistors becomes significantly more difficult, complicating maintenance and assembly procedures.
Additionally, due to the low ground clearance, the robot experienced difficulties when operating on uneven surfaces or slopes, occasionally becoming stuck during testing and matches.
Visual Interference Reduction
One of the secondary objectives of the shell was to partially cover the light emitted by LEDs and phototransistors in order to reduce potential visual interference during operation.
